A Woodworker's Home Office Project

There I sat looking down at a pink plastic trash bin decorated in sparkly glitter. While I had no idea how it had found its way into my workspace, it had become quite distracting. Rather than endure my spectacle any longer, I decided to take action and improve my workspace by building an inspiring wastebasket made from quarter sawn oak. The end result was an item that has become a joy to use in my home office and a conversation piece.


This project was based upon frame and panel construction where the frame, which consist of the legs and rails, was used to hold panels for the sides and bottom. One detail that will delight the woodworker is the angled stub tenons - a truly fun project. Check out the video below where I make the entire project with hand tools.
