This bench was designed and built for a friend as a gift. It was made from poplar, which has a nice tight grain which helps with the paint finish, and different thickness were used for aesthetic and structural purposes. While this particular bench now resides on a friend's front porch, I believe it would also work well on a back porch, patio, or in a nice garden area. I cut most of the interlocking mortise and tenon joinery by hand and also used a CNC machine to make the curves on the armrest. I made the entire bench in about a week and in my cold unheated garage. The entire bench was coated with 2-3 coats of exterior enamel paint. I am working on documenting the plans at the moment.
