A Classic Step Stool Design with Angled Sides
This weekend project has plenty of subtle details to delight the woodworker. First, traditional mortise and tenon joinery was used to connect the horizontal rails, ends pieces, the top step. This type of joinery should provide a strong base to help support adults or children. A simple pro- cess is also described to create the angled sides and arch. Finally, the edges on this project were softened without using a router, i.e. a simple molding plane was used. Before embarking upon the journey of building this step stool, I wanted to highlight that this step stool has a compact footprint and thus it becomes genuinely useful in places were floor space is limited.
